Monica G. Bugayong is an attorney at law and a licensed chemist. Prior to joining Federis & Associates Law Office, she worked in another IP law firm where she handled both patent and trademark matters. Her experience in patent work includes the drafting, preparation, and prosecution of patent applications. She also managed the preparation and prosecution of trademark applications, and handled inter partes cases before the Intellectual Property Office. She further practiced trademark infringement and unfair competition cases before the regular courts.

At Federis, Ms. Bugayong continues to handle the same types of patent and trademark work. In addition, she renders legal opinions and advice on trademark issues and disputes in relation to the registration and maintenance of clients’ trademark rights in the Philippines. She reviews trademark search reports and trademark applications prior to filing.

Ms. Bugayong also conducts review of licensing contracts and IP-related agreements and is involved in enforcement work for the firm, handling a number of its anti-counterfeiting actions.

Ms. Bugayong obtained her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines and her Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law.
